Cherry Pie

Yeah, I watched the Oscars last night, and now I have hives all over my arms, neck and back. I must be allergic to boredom. I need extra-strength Benadryl.

Saturday, I went to a wonderful party celebrating Gretl's (the golden girl in the middle above) birthday.  It was very special burlesque birthday party with cherry pie, titty cupcakes and a whole lot of fun!

Krispy Kreme is now selling whole wheat doughnuts.  Time for a new mashup!

Posting may or may not be light this week, but it will definitely be under the influence of drugs.

Last week, Brian and I went to Starshine Burlesque and he took a load of great photos of the show.  This weekend I was cleaning up my room and found a 2 for 1 coupon to attend either Starshine or Red Hots Burlesque which I got when I went to Ducky Doolittle's Bachelorette party. I will definitely take advantage of the offer this week!

Give Me The Night

Alicegirly

On New Year's Eve Eve, a group of girls went out for comedy and fun.  Girly brought her two lovely friends (Terri & Marni). RKB brought cupcakes from Billy's Bakery.  Alice brought her smile and wild red hair.  I brought a spare pair of shoes in case my turquiose cowboy boots got too uncomfortable.

We enjoyed comedy at $1 Room at Telephone.  Then a few of us went to catch the last bits of Starshine Burlesque.  Then we stopped by Boxcar Lounge to drink some Pinot Noir.  Finally we ended the evening at Manitoba!

Choice Is Yours

Stopped by Housing Works tonight to see the book blogger panel discussion, "What the Blog?".  It was moderated by Dennis Loy Johnson.

Maud Newton, Ron from Beatrice, George from BookNinja, Laila from Moorish Girl and Michael from The Complete Review spoke about books, writing, and the relationship between blogs and traditional print media.

Maud's comment about why she started blogging is spot on:

I had to the desire to procastinate. There's no better way to waste time...

Afterwards, I tried to recruit some civilians (non-bloggers) to start blogs which is easy and takes about 5 minutes to do.

Then I headed up to Siberia which is appropriate given it's a cold night.  Paul Frankenstein, a fellow Sagittarius, was celebrating his birthday early. [I love how Sags will decide when and how long they will celebrate their birthday!]

While at the bar, I meet Fisherman who does burlesque at Otto's Shrunken Head and the This or That burlesque show which is now playing at the Belt Theatre on Friday nights.  [There's a chance that Candied Yams may come out of retirement.]

Oh, RKB gave me the book, New Burlesque by Katharina Bosse for my birthday. Plus there's a book event/party for Striptease: The Untold History of the Girlie Show, by Rachel Shteir. It will be at the Slipper Room on Wednesday, December 8 and will include performances by Dottie Lux of the Red Hots Burlesque and Jo Weldon of G-Strings Forever.
